A Creative Partnership

The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra’s 2026–2027 season will feature a creative partnership with Indianapolis artist Tanía Michelle Wineglass, bringing visual art and orchestral music into conversation throughout the season.
As Creative Partner and Artist-in-Residence, Wineglass will create or feature a work of art inspired by each ICO concert, exploring the emotions, stories, themes, and experiences evoked through the music. Each featured artwork will offer audiences another way to engage with the performance—creating a visual dialogue between sound, memory, culture, and human
experience.
The partnership also provides an opportunity for audiences to take a piece of the experience home. The featured paintings and prints associated with each concert will be available for purchase, with 10% of the proceeds from each season-related artwork sold benefiting the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
Through this collaboration, the ICO and Wineglass invite audiences to experience the season not only through what they hear, but also through what they see, feel, and imagine—while creating a meaningful connection between the visual arts, music, and community.
My practice combines painting, quilting, ceramics, reclaimed textiles, found object sculpture, and immersive storytelling to create visual testimonies of cultural memory, healing, and transformation. I see myself as a visual griot, preserving, interpreting, and even reimagining stories that history has often overlooked. Through portraiture, textiles, sculptural objects, symbolism, and layered narratives, I explore how memory is carried across generations and how remembrance can become healing. Each medium and symbol carries meaning, honoring
those who came before me while imagining more inclusive futures. My work creates space for overlooked voices to be seen and remembered, inviting viewers to connect with possible stories beyond their own.
