ICO Sub List Application
As part of ICO’s commitment to DEI and equitable access for artistic opportunities, ICO is pleased to offer a pathway for substitute list consideration. ICO is committed to welcoming musicians from underrepresented populations. ICO is a union orchestra, operating under a collective bargaining agreement. Musicians are added to the substitute list based on the recommendation of the principal section musician in consultation with the music director.
Application Process
First:
Submit your resume, contact information, and a recent video recording (within the last 24 months) of a solo performance by email to auditions@icomusic.org with the subject: Substitute Consideration
Recording Specifics:
- Recent recording of a solo performance (within the last 24 months)
- Five-seven standard excerpts of your choosing
- Ten minutes of music maximum
- Issues sending the file? Email auditions@icomusic.org for other options.
Then:
- The ICO principal musician for your section will review the materials submitted within 60 days.
- The ICO principal may then contact you for additional conversation or playing or immediately add you to their list.
ICO Information
- Per Service Orchestra – $125.80
- Approximately 50-59 services per year (depending on contract service opportunities)
- 7.2% pension contribution for all services
- Federal mileage rate reimbursement up to $175 per contract engagement for distances more than 75 miles.
- ICO has 7 subscription concerts, 3 parks concerts, 1 education concert, and 1 benefit concert
