Principal Timpani

A native of Libertyville, Illinois, Christian joined the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra in 2026. He graduated with honors from DePaul University where he studied percussion under David Herbert, Eric Millstein, Ian Ding and Michael Green. While at DePaul, he also studied composition under Dr. Christopher Wendell Jones. The desire to improve and perfect his skills has led him to private studies with various teachers including Dean Borghesani and Jeremy Epp as well as to Colditz Castle in Saxony where he attended the Copper & Cow masterclasses and had the privilege of learning from preeminent timpanists such as Raymond Curfs and Andrea Bindi. 

 

He also serves as timpanist with the Dubuque Symphony and regularly performs with Chicago-area ensembles including the Illinois Philharmonic and Rockford Symphony Orchestras. Christian lives with his wife in Chicago and in his spare time enjoys running, reading novels, visiting distilleries and traveling.
