In Dominance and Defiance, audiences will be mesmerized by Michael Daughtery’s Trail of Tears, featuring soloist Amy Porter in a dramatic flute concerto depicting the forced removal of Native Americans from their ancestral lands during the 1830s. Also included is Shostakovich’s dark and striking Chamber Symphony, and, Beethoven’s nostalgic Eighth Symphony celebrating the composer’s 250th birthday.
