Thank You For An Amazing 2017!

2017 was a great year for Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. In our 33rd season, we have much to be thankful for – amazing musicians, loyal audience and supporters, and a vibrant central Indiana community.

It was a very busy, yet rewarding year. The ICO delivered more intimate, classic, original experiences on stage and beyond — many thrilling concerts this year, such as January’s Concierto en Tango by Miguel del Aguila, April’s appearance by the legendary bassist Gary Karr, yoga breaks at Holliday Park set to live orchestral music in July, and the spectacular season opening with hometown diva Angela Brown in October!

Another significant item of note — we were thrilled to learn that a WFYI documentary featuring Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra’s Peacemakers won an Emmy for Best Special Event Coverage! Patrons will recall the 2016 premiere of Peacemakers, written by ICO-Composer-In-Residence James Aikman – performed to a sold-out audience!

Also, in July 2017 the ICO’s updated website – icomusic.org – launched after a complete overhaul. The new responsive website allows visitors to interact with more ease, whether on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. In addition, patrons may choose their own seats when purchasing concert tickets. While this technology has been around for a while, our small non-profit orchestra was able to make the leap with generous support from Lilly Endowment. Amazingly, we are already seeing a significant increase in web traffic. For example, over half of our Messiah concert patrons purchased tickets online and printed them at home!

None of these things happen without the support of many people!

The Musicians

The range of repertoire our musicians perform is huge. Most every concert features chamber classics juxtaposed by contemporary works, and we are grateful to a highly skilled body of musicians who expertly execute challenging music under the direction of Maestro Matthew Kraemer. We also welcomed two amazing musicians: Concertmaster Tarn Travers and Principal Flute Gabriel Fridkis to our orchestra.

Thank you to our amazing musicians dedicated to creating exceptional musical experiences!

Our Audience and Supporters

Recognizing the uniqueness of ICO’s community value, our audience and supporters regularly come together celebrating shared musical experiences that tickle the senses leaving the listener zestful with appetites for more.

Thank you to our loyal audience and supporters who savor new experiences and value quality performing arts in our community!

Our Community

The cultural fabric of our community is a shining example of how the arts are driving a vibrant economy. Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra is proud to help drive our community’s success. According to the latest Arts and Economic Prosperity numbers released by Americans for the Arts, the arts have a $440.5 Million annual economic impact in central Indiana and generate over $47 million in tax revenue for the City and the State. The arts are an economic driver and a vital catalyst for our cultural advancement.

Thank you for embracing and supporting the arts in our community!!!

May 2018 bring you good health, happiness and more great music.
